How much does a trip cost?
For a 3 night/ 4 day at a traditional inn (with full meals), transportation, and activities, it will be roughly 300,000 yen (for two). Luxury accomodations will be more. I can give you an accurate quote upon inquiry.
Excludes plane tickets, bullet train tickets from Tokyo, and other discretionay expenses.
How far in advance do I have to book? Can I book last minute?
2 to 3 months ahead would be fine to get the best rooms and activities.
During your stay in Japan, you might be interested in a last minute trip. Contact me and we'll see if I can arrange it for you! Please note the cancellation policy.
How will we travel in Iwate?
We will travel by car within Iwate Prefecture.
If you're coming from Tokyo area, you'll need to take the bullet train (shinkansen) to Kitakami station. About a 2.5hr train ride.
How many people in a group?
1 (solo) up to 4 people. It will generally be just your party. Over this number, please ask me, and I'll see if I can arrange it for you.
Can children come along? Can I come alone?
Free time without the guide?
Yes! During some of the activities, you can roam around. You'll also have plenty of quality time with your family or friend at your Inn (where you'll spend your evening/morning).
What if there is heavy rain?
Alternate activties will be available. Museums, visiting craftsmen, caves, and driving by waterfalls.
I have some physical limitations, can I still participate in the outdoor activities?
Many of the activities involve easy to moderate levels of physical activity. If you have injuries or limitations, I will make adjustments accordingly. Just let me know!
Wild animals and insects?
Yes. Bug spray is needed in the warmer months. Once in a while, we may spot a bear when driving. We'll usually have bells to warn any that may be nearby when trekking through forest and streams.
What should I wear?
I'll give you suggestions before the trip. Japan is often humid, so breatheable clothes (polyster/nylon blends) and a light-jacket (for air-conditioned rooms) are recommended in the warmer months.
As a general rule of thumb: Spring (t-shirt/super-light jacket), Summer (polyester/cotton blend shirts/shorts, super-light jacket), Fall (light coat or jacket), Winter (inner layers, coat, down jacket)
